Picnic Edition
Even though the weather couldn’t make up its mind—hot one minute and rainy the next—it didn’t slow down our indoor Picnic celebration. If anything, it made the fellowship feel even sweeter. And as always, the food did not disappoint. We enjoyed a spread that would make any picnic proud. Sandwich choices included country ham, chicken salad, turkey, and pimento cheese, with fried chicken rounding out the entrée table. The sides were a feast all their own: baked beans, pasta salad, coleslaw, mac and cheese, fresh creamed corn, and a bean salad topped with feta. Then came the potatoes—four different styles! Fried Indian style, fried country style, casserole, and salad. Every single one was a hit. Desserts brought all the fruit flavors to the table: blueberry pie, peach cobbler, strawberry pretzel salad, and a cream cheese pie crowned with cherries. It was the perfect finish to a summertime meal. After we filled our plates (and then filled them again), we settled into a new seating arrangement that let everyone see one another while still chatting with their neighbors. It was a simple change that made the evening feel even more connected—just right for a picnic indoors. No matter how busy summer gets or how tired we are from life’s demands, we still find joy in gathering around a table, sharing stories, and enjoying each other’s company. Nights like this remind us how blessed we are to have a church family that shows up, laughs together, and makes every meal meaningful. God is good.
